About Massage Studio

In 1996 I went on a class trip to study Ancient Mayan civilization through visiting sixteen archological sites. While we were in the Yucatan we stayed in a village where we had the opportunity to experience modern Mayan culture.  We lived for a few days like the natives and it was unforgettable.  While we traveled I was often asked to give massages as good at helping my classmates out of pain.  One evening I was working on a friend as the matriarch of the Mayan family we were staying with watched.  Through our translator she asked if I would massage her neck as she stated she had been in pain for years.  I happily worked with her and she felt much better instantly.  The next morning she brought me fresh tortillas and told me that her neck pain less then it had been in a very long time.

It was what she said next that has always stuck with me.  Again through translation she said that it was my gift to help people out of pain through the work of my hands and that I should work on as many people as possible. She looked me directly in the eye and said, “This gift is why you are here.” Whoa, talk about amazing!  It’s not everyday that someone tells you that your gift is why you are here!  I felt like I had been initiated into my life’s calling.  And to this day I feel honored to work with clients to get relief from pain and stress.

I have worked as a massage therapist for over 18 years, and this is my sixth year as owner of Massage Studio. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Indiana State University, and my Massage Certification from the Indiana College of Body Work Modalities in Indianapolis. I am also a certified member of ABMP (Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals).

We have studied a number of modalities and techniques and have training in Swedish, Therapeutic, Medical, Hot Stone, Deep Tissue, Mu-Xing therapy, massage cupping, and Access Bars. Our methods are tailored to fit your needs because we understand that every “body” is different, and every massage is designed specifically for the individual health issues of each person. So by listening to your concerns and what it is you are looking for in your massage, we can provide relief from injuries, aches and pains from daily stress, and restore overall balance and relaxation to your mind and body.

We look forward to working with you soon!
